Introduction/Overview:
Through various plant improvement initiatives and Comminution Upgrade Projects, bottlenecks were identified with the CIL Circuit and associated equipment. A Structural Assessment of the existing Tanks and infrastructure identified the need to replace large sections of the CIL Tanks due to erosion.
Performance of associated equipment were also compromised by the increased throughput, resulting process inefficiencies and recovery loss.
The Solve:
Our holistic approach and understanding of the Process and equipment design, allowed CEMS Consult to provide an improved Flowsheet development to address both the equipment constraint and the higher than design loads resulting from the increased throughput. Recovery Profiles were used to ensure flowsheet development supports the Leach Kinetics.
The solution addressed both the Asset Integrity (which was the initial objective of the project) as well as improved the Operational Performance of the equipment. Additional Flexibility were provided with the upgrade allowing the client to optimise the Leach Circuit as may be required by the different ore types for the LoM.
