Mill performance and efficiency can rarely be evaluated looking at the mill in isolation. Optimising mill circuits requires a deep understanding of system configuration, metallurgical performance, and operational efficiency. Our approach includes:
The process followed by CEMS Consult
- Undertaking a site visit to survey the plant and gather operating data
- Gathering operating data including ore characteristics and blend models, particle size distribution throughout the comminution circuit including sampling surveys, which is normally followed by a crash stop of the mills to conduct internal measurements and inspection
- Assessment of mill characteristics, including mill dynamics, liners, wear patterns, mill dimensioning and construction, main bearings structural loading capacity etc.
- Mill drive assessment
- Mill modelling, whereby a model fit is generated for the comminution circuit, with consideration of the findings and measurements obtained during the above survey and assessments
